In order to develop sports and culture activities in the peripheral villages of NTPC Talcher Thermal, a rural volley ball tournament 2023 was organised by NTPC Talcher Thermal at Santhapada in association with Santhapada Sports Club, TTPS on 11.03.2023.

A total of 12 teams participated namely Santhapada, Dasanali, Bangu, Bantol, Lingirakata, TTPS club, Sundarapasi, Takua, Rangabeda, Gobara, TATA Steel and CISF of Talcher subdivision.
In a nail biting match Santhapada defeated Takua by 2-1 sets to become winner of the NTPC Rural Volley ball Tournament 2023.

The tournament was inaugurated by Shri Deepak, GM (Engg. Services), NTPC-TTPS in the presence of other senior officials of NTPC, President & other members of sports club, TTPS and Santhapada sports committee.
The tournament completed successfully under the supervision of Shri Sahadev Sahoo, Sarpanch (Santhapada GP). Volley ball nets and balls were given to all the peripheral teams.

Mr Kamar Ali Khan, International volley ball coach from Kolkata was also present in the tournament, who shall train the rural youths of the peripheral villages of NTPC Talcher Thermal for 15 days at Santhapada village. It has been informed to the youths to avail the opportunity and get the services of one of the best coaches of India.
